American Baptist Churches USA (ABC) represents nearly 6,000 congregations voluntarily banded together in support of common mission causes. The 1.3 million members reflect the increasing diversity of the American population and are widely distributed throughout the country. Major ministry areas are educational, evangelism, church renewal, social justice, and assisting those with special needs.
The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship (CBF) began as a grassroots movement of free and faithful Baptists in May, 1991, and has provided an alternative model of ministry to those rejected by the Southern Baptist Convention. Committed to historic Baptist principles, the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship receives support from some 1800 congregations and many individuals. Evangelism outreach includes 140 career missionaries and nearly 4,000 part-time volunteers serving each year.
The Baptist General Association of Virginia (BGAV) is composed of 1,400 cooperating congregations across the state that work together to strengthen churches and extend Christian ministries. Some 700,000 Virginia Baptists join in supporting a rich array of resources that include outreach, education, and consulting, as well as a news journal, The Religious Herald.
